U.S. Census Office, Statement of the Number of Alien Passengers Arriving in the United States by Sea from Foreign Countries from September 30, 1819, to December 31, 1860 (1864)

This is a table from the 1864 Census Office report following the 1860 Census. The table shows the number of immigrants that arrived to the United States each year between 1819 and 1860. We used the data from this original table to create graphs showing changes in the numbers of immigrants arriving to the United States over the years. The original table, recreated table, and graphs can be viewed in these spreadsheets. We wanted to illustrate the significant increase in immigration to the United States during this time period.
