U.S. Census Bureau, Census of Slaves and Free Colored (1882)

This is a table from the 1864 U.S. Census Bureau report following the 1860 census. It shows data from every decennial census between 1790 and 1860 regarding the populations of enslaved and free black populations. We used this data to create two graphs--a stacked area chart showing the growth in enslaved and free black populations and a bar graph showing the rate of increase in population.
