It is the second of two pages, showing 20 major manufacturing cities in the United States and their top industries. The first page shows six other cities not shown here. At the bottom of the page are two bar graphs showing the twenty cities ranked by the value per capita of all products produced, and by the total value of all products produced. These two graphs provide insight into cities that were heavily industialized and productive relative to their population, such as Pittsburgh, PA, and Newark and Jersey City, NJ. The graphs also demonstrate how cities and states shared in the production of goods that were important to the U.S. economy, despite the fact that some cities and states clearly specialized in certain products.
