Adam Matthew Digital, Age of Exploration

This interactive map, created by Adam Matthew Digital in collaboration with an academic editorial board, illustrates a selection of influential  European voyages that took place between the late-fifteenth and early twentieth centuries. According to the creators, the voyages represented are not exhaustive, but intended to be used as a starting point for learning about some of the most well-known expeditions in the history of exploration. Students can play through all the voyages, drag the timeline to a start date, or select a specific voyage. They can also filter voyages by nationality and commander to compare and contrast, or focus their research.
